What is Man? A Bible Study

continued:
                                                                                And then came Jesus!

God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a decendant of King David. Gabriel appeared to her and said, "Greetings, favored woman! the Lord is with you!" Mary was confused and disturbed. "Don't be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High". "The Lord  God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. And He will reign over Israel forever, His Kingdom will never end!" Mary asked the angel how this could happen? I am a virgin. The angel replied, "the Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God."       Luke 1:26-35

Jesus was born a lowly birth in a stable in Bethleham, because it was censes time there, and there was no room at the hotels or motels. The angels announced His birth to the shepherds who were watching their sheep. They were astonished, but the angels said fear not for we bring you good news, and there will be much joy for the world. The shepherds went to see Jesus. A few years later the wise men arrived from the East, with gifts.

Jesus grew up a normal life helping His step father Joseph a carpenter in Nazareth. When Jesus was 12 years old, His family had returned to Bethleham for another censes time again. When Joseph and Mary were heading home, they noticed Jesus was not with them. They looked for Him and found Him in the temple discussing the laws with the leaders.

When Jesus was 30 years old it was time for Him to begin His ministry to the people. He found His cousin John the Baptist, and was baptised. He called together 12 diciples, and began to teach them and heal the sick and raise people from the dead, and preach the words of God.

The Jewish leaders began to fear Jesus' followers where getting too strong and looked for ways to kill Jesus. Their task was finally completed when Jesus was 33 years old and He was crucified on a cross among some theives.
He was burried in a friends tomb. After 3 days some of His friends went to the tomb and found Him missing, all except the grave cloth. They were terrified and when they were going to tell the diciples, Jesus appeared to them and re-asurred them He had risen from the dead. Jesus again began preaching to His diciples and followers. Before Jesus accended to Heaven to be with His Father, He told his followers He would send another comforter, the Holy Spirit to abide with His followers.
After He assended, one day when the diciples were all gathered together with a bunch of people, the Holy Spirit came upon them and they were so filled they began to speak in the languages of all the people, so they could understand.

Later a man named Saul, a Roman citizen,  who was trying to kill the followers was struck by the power of God and was blinded for 3 days. He recognized the power of God and was converted to Christianity. The followers of Jesus, who had accepted Jesus as their personal Lord and Savion, were called Christians. God gave Saul a new name, Paul and Paul became the most famous and strongest preachers of the Word, ever.

Later John, one of the diciples of Jesus, was given the revelation of the end times. This can be found in the book of "The Revelation", the last book in the Bible. It is very symbolic, and something I beleive all Christians should read, more than once.

If you have never been "born again", or saved, please accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. It is easy to do, just realize you were born in the sin of Adam and ask Jesus to forgive you of that, read the Word and try to follow what it says, and believe God will do all that He says He will do for you.
