THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

1. Wisdom
                    2. Understanding
                                                    3. COUNSEL

COUNSEL  The Holy Spirit warns us of the deceits of the devil, and the dangers of salvation:

At first I thought we always new right from wrong even before salvation. But the counsel of the Holy Spirit goes
much deeper than that. Not only do we get from the Spirit what is right and wrong, there are many "cloudy areas"
that we have to deal with. Some things may seem alright, and we may do them, but we always have a feeling something is not right. Things that will not keep us from heaven, but things that will keep us from enjoying the Gifts of the Spirit.
I can testify to this myself. I was doing something not quite right and when I put an end to it, I began to enjoy
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Have you ever wondered your salvation? I have and I believe we all have. When we get all sin, that we can control, out
of our lives, the Spirit is then free to counsel us. I am very sure the devil is trying all the time to discourage our
relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Dear God, help us with our relationship with You. Counsel us as to what we should be doing, thinking and saying.
Amen

Mr. Bill

  1. Bill, it sounds like you are experienceing really sweet intimacy with the Lord right now, and it makes me glad! How awesome it is to enjoy communion with the one true God. I'm thankful for your posts here and to hear about what you have been processing with the Lord. The Holy Spirit is a person, and we DO experience fellowship with him. This is true, and so often neglected or forgotten.

Earlier on this year I read a book by one of my favorite authors John Piper titled, "Finally Alive". I would highly recommend it to you. He teaches about the Holy Spirit in this book, with particular emphasis on the Holy Spirit's role in regeneration (being born again) I'd highly recommend you check it out.

Your question about assurance caught my eye in this last post. Some friends and I met earlier this fall and preached through the book of 1 John together. I myself never remember the exact moment when I was born again and submitted to Christ as my Lord and Savior. So, I have asked the question, "Am I even a Christian?" I think what the Lord would ask me and all of us who have asked that quesiton is the following: "Have you heard the Gospel? Do you believe the Gospel? Has the Gospel Changed your life (how you live, your desires, ect.) If the answer is yes to these questions, if you are trusting in Christ alone for salvation, rest assured you are a Christian, your identity is in Jesus, the Holy Spirit has changed your heart and He dwells in you, and God the Father is pleased with you as he is pleased with His only begotten son Jesus whose righteousness is yours (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Jesus is our assurance. The Holy Spirit enables us to trust in him by Faith. The Father is pleased. Oh what great hope we have in Christ!!!! God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit, three in one. Oh blessed Trinity, how marvelous are thee, how wonderful and glorious you are!
